In London after the war books were so scarce that used vendors had long lists of people waiting for the few books that turned up. For schools in London which taught astrology, the situation was impossible. Responding to the post WWII book shortage, Margaret Hone published this ultimate Astrology Text-Book.

She was born in Birmingham, England, on October 2, 1892, at 2:13 am. Her ascendant was 27 Leo; her Sun was 9 Libra; her Moon was 13 Aquarius. Her midheaven was 15 Taurus.

Of Ms Hone, James Holden wrote, English astrologer, educator, and author. She was a professional astrologer and private teacher for many years and later was Principal and Director of Studies of the Faculty of Astrological Studies 1954 1969 and Vice President of the Astrological Lodge of London. Mrs. Hone was an advocate of the Equal House system of house division. She is best known in the U.S. for her two instruction manuals.

This book is dedicated to Charles E.O. Carter, 1887-1968. Carter succeeded Alan Leo as head of the Astrological Lodge (1920-1952) and was First Principal of the Faculty of Astrological Studies, which he helped found in 1948. Hone succeeded Carter at FAS. She passed away on October 14, 1969.

In his Preface, while quick to praise Hone, a personal friend, Charles Carter pointed out that this book s high price was justified, that padding has been rigorously excluded. He goes on to praise the workmanship, the carefully worded definitions, as well as the fact that the book was complete and entire in itself. About the Author
J. Archer Harris received his BS in Mathematics (with honors) from Denison University in 1973 and his MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1975 and 1978. He currently is an associate professor of Computer Science at James Madison University where he has taught since 1985. His interest include operating systems, UNIX, networks, and computer science education. Dr. Harris has also taught at Southern Illinois University and his consulting activities have included working with Tandon Corporation, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, BDS Corporation, TransAmerica Telemarketing, and Shenandoah Electronic Intelligence. John R. Cordani received his BS in English and Education from the State University of New York, College at New Paltz in 1969 and his m.Ed. and Ed.D in administration and computing from Teacher's College, Columbia University in 1983. He currently is an associate professor of Computer Science at James Madison University. His interests include operating systems, databases, and information security. Dr. Cordani has also taught at Eastern Michigan University, Adelphi University, and Baruch College of the City University of New York. Dr. Cordani has served in the United States Army, Army Reserve and National Guard as an Intelligence Officer in the area of computer information systems. Dr. Cordani brings extensive experience in working with, designing, and operating systems in both education and government to the creation of this book.

About the Author

Janice K. Loudon, PT, PhD, ATC, is an associate professor in the doctor of physical therapy division in the department of community and family medicine at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She has more than 25 years of experience in clinical sports medicine and has worked as a physical therapy instructor for over 20 years. Previously, she was an associate professor and director of the doctorate of physical therapy (DPT) program at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. In 2007, Loudon was named an Outstanding Physical Therapy Faculty by the department of physical therapy education at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Loudon has published more than 25 articles in referred journals, written 4 book chapters, and coauthored two editions of The Clinical Orthopedic Assessment Guide (Human Kinetics, 1998, 2008). She is a frequent invited presenter at national, state, and local conferences and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She resides in Durham, North Carolina. In her spare time she enjoys tennis, cycling, and gardening.

Robert C. Manske, PT, DPT, MEd, SCS, ATC, CSCS, is an associate professor of physical therapy at Wichita State University. He earned a doctoral degree in physical therapy in 2006 from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. Manske was also a sport physical therapy fellow training under the guidance of George J. Davies in one of the first sport physical therapy residency programs. As a practicing physical therapist, Manske has over 18 years of clinical experience in orthopedic rehabilitation and actively researches knee and shoulder rehabilitation and sport performance enhancement.

Manske has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals, edited 3 home study courses, coauthored 12 home study course chapters, coauthored 30 book chapters, and authored or coauthored 5 books, all related to orthopedic or sport rehabilitation. He is a board-certified sport physical therapist, certified athletic trainer, and certified strength and conditioning specialist. He is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the American Physical Therapy Association, where he serves as vice president of the Sports Section. Manske presents multiple weekend courses on various topics concerning the shoulder and knee and remains active in clinical practice.

He also serves as an associate editor for the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy. He is a reviewer for several journals, including American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Sport Rehabilitation, Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy, Physical Therapy in Sports, Sports Health, Athletic Training and Sports Health Care, and Physiotherapy Theory and Practice.

In 2007, Manske received the Sports Section Excellence in Education Award from the American Physical Therapy Association. He also received the Kansas Physical Therapy Educator award from the Kansas Physical Therapy Association (2003) and the Rodenberg Teaching Award from the College of Health Professions at Wichita State University (2004).

Manske and his wife, Julie, live in Wichita. He enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and watching collegiate and professional sports.

Michael P. Reiman, PT, DPT, MEd, OCS, SCS, ATC, FAAOMPT, CSCS, is an associate professor in the division of doctorate of physical therapy in the department of community and family practice at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He also serves as an adjunct assistant professor in the department of physical therapy at Wichita State University and clinical faculty in the Duke University Medical Center manual therapy fellowship program.Reiman has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as 9 book chapters and 3 home study courses. He coauthored one text, Functional Testing in Human Performance (Human Kinetics, April 2009), with Robert C. Manske. He has given numerous presentations at national, regional, and local conferences.

Reiman is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapy, Kansas Physical Therapy Association, National Athletic Trainers’ Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and Alpha Eta Society. About this attitude, he statesIn the politics of eternity, the seduction by a mythicized past prevents us from thinking about possible futures. The habit of dwelling on victimhood dulls the impulse of self-correction. Since the nation is defined by its inherent virtue rather than by its future potential, politics becomes a discussion of good and evil rather than a discussion of possible solutions to real problems. Since the crisis is permanent, the sense of emergency is always present; planning for the future seems impossible or even disloyal. How can we even think of reform when the enemy is always at the gate?Id. at 810-815In contrast to both of these attitudes, he places history (an encomium with which I could not agree more):Both of these positions, inevitability and eternity, are antihistorical. The only thing that stands between them is history itself. History allows us to see patterns and make judgments. It sketches for us the structures within which we can seek freedom. It reveals moments, each one of them different, none entirely unique. To understand one moment is to see the possibility of being the cocreator of another. History permits us to be responsible: not for everything, but for something. The Polish poet Czesław Miłosz thought that such a notion of responsibility worked against loneliness and indifference. History gives us the company of those who have done and suffered more than we have.Id. at 822-827In his peroration, he exhorts young people especially (although it applies to all of us)One thing is certain: If young people do not begin to make history, politicians of eternity and inevitability will destroy it. And to make history, young Americans will have to know some.This is not the end, but a beginning. “The time is out of joint. O cursed spite,/That ever I was born to set it right!” Thus Hamlet. Yet he concludes: “Nay, come, let’s go together.”Id. at 830-834Buy this book and read it!

Shatters any illusion that democracy is a given in the US or in any country. One detail I keep thinking about: Snyder's argument that the evisceration of privacy and the humiliation of the individual is a very old fascist technique. Consider that when you think about the email breaches of the last election, or why doxing is a weapon of choice among the cyber brown shirts. Another: the long and terrible legacy of dismantling the rule and protections of law as "exceptions" -- which quickly become permanent -- due to safety "emergencies." Americans may be tested on that sooner than later. Democracy has and can become totalitarianism in but a few months. The time to stand up for institutions, fair voting, and (this is surprisingly crucial) the ethics of your profession is NOW -- not after it's too late.

If I compare this 'booket' to Petersen's work, it pales in insignificance and poor judgement. It is clearly written with a bias against President Trump, but more importantly uses the briefest of snippets in history to poorly justify his claims. He ignores the current 'Ministry of Truth' deployed by our media (a clearly socialist groupthink), in which "nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right." (1984) History has shown that it is the socialists and communists that devolve to mob rule and totalitarianism. This is the nationalism that "imposes itself on people incapable of understanding it", not the Trump form of nationalism which is essentially an enforcement of truth and justice, adhering to the will of the people and the Constitution that has served this country so well. For a History Lecturer, this effort gets a minimum grade! (and is a poor reflection on his university). He has NO idea of tyranny.If he were to draw conclusions on tyranny from the 20th Century he would look at North Korea, China, Russia, Germany, Italy, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, South Africa and the many other countries that have failed under the guise of socialism which devolves to autocracy and totalitarianism, not to mention economic failure.Don't waste your time or your money on this one. Yale? Really?

It's far from an academic paper in that the author is clearly biased and offers little in the way of contrary opinion, but it never claimed to be anything else.For those who have not studied history extensively this book is likely informative. For those who haven't studied history lately, this book likely contains some reminders. For those well versed and practiced in the study of history and geopolitics, this book offers nothing new, rather it places current geopolitical phenomena in historical context.
