I had always wanted to write a series about sisters and cousins, and though I knew the series name, Conundrums of the Misses Culpepper, way before I knew the individual titles of the books, I couldn't decide if I wanted all the books set in London. 
 
Wagers Gone Awry was inspired by two things: someone I know with a gambling problem, and a dairy farm along the Oregon Coast owned by my husband's friend. 
 
The appeal of having a heroine taking care of her sister and cousins, and also manage a dairy farm enticed me, especially since both were frowned upon during the Regency era. 
 
I also wanted a highbrow hero who would be brought down a peg or two, a guy who readers might want to slap silly in the beginning of the story, but by the end, they adore him.  
 
And, of course, I had to add Freddy, the Welsh Corgi, who you'll find makes the story quite interesting.
